We loved him because: He had fantastic shoulders. Plus, there was that thing with the pie. Awesome! And he was also really good at hiding that freaking moonstone. (Seriously. A vervain-filled death well > a soap dish.)
We lost him because: His first mistake was falling for Katherine. His second mistake was messing with the Salvatores. He might as well have removed his own heart and handed it to Damon on a silver platter at that point.
