Pearl (Kelly Hu)
We loved her because: Pearl was Katherine's BFF for a few centuries, which means she was a pretty tough chick in her own right. Despite her friendship with our fave villainess, Pearl did have a heart -- she was fiercely protective of her daughter, and she turned fallen soldier Harper to keep him from dying in battle.
We lost her because: Pearl's death was rather poetic. In 1864, she fell in love with a human -- Jonathan Gilbert, who returned her affection until he found out she was a vampire, at which point he shoved her in a tomb and tried to burn her to death. Sweet, right? Pearl survived that and was released from the tomb nearly 150 years later ... only to be killed by Jonathan's ancestor and namesake, John Gilbert.
