'The Vampire Diaries' Death Toll: Characters we've loved and lost

We loved her because: Rose gave us a rare glimpse into Damon's softer side. She was a fugitive vampire on the run from Klaus who kidnapped Elena to get back into his good graces. The Salvatores forgave her for it and she ultimately had a little fling with Damon.

We lost her because: Jules bit her. After an excruciating illness, Damon helped ease Rose into death by creating a dream state for her, where she believed they were in her hometown, before she was turned, enjoying some simple pleasures of humanity, like sunlight and frolicking and draping herself all over Damon. As she accepts her fate, Damon drives a stake into her, effectively ending her suffering. He's such a darling.
