'The Vampire Diaries' Death Toll: Characters we've loved and lost

We loved her because: Compulsion aside, Andie didn't take any nonsense from Damon. He may have stripped her of her innate fear of vampires, but other than that, her affection for him was genuine. Her intrepid reporter skills were put to good use when Damon and Alaric spent their summer tracking Stefan's ripper road trip.

We lost her because: Stefan needed to prove to Damon that he was beyond saving, and he chose Andie as his sacrificial lamb. We have to admit, as far as deaths go, hers was pretty cool - instead of ripping into her, as is his custom, he coldly compelled her to kill herself while Damon watched. Ouch.
