We loved him because: Add Trevor to the long list of men who fell for Katherine and ultimately died because of it. He helped Katherine escape from Klaus and Elijah back when she was Katerina, and he spent the rest of his life facing the consequences.

We lost him because: It took several centuries, but Elijah caught up, as they always do, and he literally slapped Trevor's head right off. There are some wounds even vampires can't heal from.
