'The Vampire Diaries' Death Toll: Characters we've loved and lost

We loved him because: He was Caroline's dad. Even though he was seriously misguided about vampirism, Bill did help Tyler fight the sire bond that connected him to Klaus, and before he died, he did tell Caroline that he's proud of her.

We lost him because: Psycho-Alaric killed him, inadvertently turning him into a vampire because he had blood in his system. Instead of fully transitioning into a vamp, though, Bill Forbes stuck to his guns and decided to die human instead of feeding on human blood.
