In 2007, CBS launched a Zimbardo-esque reality show which plopped 40 children onto an abandoned ranch. With extremely minimal adult supervision, the youngsters were tasked with organizing a functioning society in 40 days as "pioneers." They had a town council, and even slaughtered live chickens for meals.
It was widely criticized for child labor violations and the ethical issues associated with placing children in the various scenarios and challenges.
