Fox Reality Channel shutting down to make way for new venture
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Reality TV junkies are facing a cold truth: The Fox Reality Channel is wrapping up its four-year mix of new and repeat programming next spring.
The channel will end operations on March 31, Fox Networks Group said, although its library of programs may continue airing for an unspecified period.
Fox Reality Channel was profitable but the company said it has made a "strategic decision" to shift resources to new channels. No details were released.
Original Fox Reality Channel programs include "American Idol Extra," with "Temptation Island" and "Last Comic Standing" among the reruns.
Fox told the reality channel's staff of its decision Wednesday, the day after the final Really Awards ceremony was taped. It's set to air Saturday.
