Rev. Run Copes With Infant Daughter's Death
Baby died shortly after being delivered
The couple lost their infant daughter at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, New Jersey on Tuesday, report news sources.
"On Sept. 26, 2006, Victoria Anne Simmons for some unknown reason chose to come early and unfortunately did not survive," says Run, aka Joseph Simmons, in a statement. "We must accept whatever is there and once you accept unconditionally, then everything is beautiful. Every pain has a purifying effect. So whatever comes your way, just be thankful. We see life in death and believe in the celebration of life in death."
Justine Simmons gave birth via Cesaerean section, but the child died shortly after being delivered. TMZ.com reports that the infant was born with its organs outside of her body and that MTV cameras were in the hospital at the time.
Run is best known as the founder of rap trio Run DMC. He's also the brother of hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons. His family, which is featured on "Run's House," consists of him, his wife, their sons Daniel and Russell II and three more children -- Vanessa, Angels and Joseph, Jr. -- from a previous relationship.
