Theron, Jones Circle Haggis' Latest
Oscar winner wants more Oscar winners for his Oscar hopeful military mystery
The industry trades report that Warner Independent has stepped up to co finance the next project from the "Crash" writer-director which is either titled "The Garden of Elah" (if you trust Variety), "In the Valley of Elah" (if you trust the Internet Movie Database) or just plain untitled (if you trust The Hollywood Reporter).
Regardless of what the movie's called -- its basis is a Mark Boal Playboy article titled "Death and Dishonor" -- it should begin production late this year.
The film is about a father searching for his son, a soldier gone AWOL in Iraq. His investigation uncovers a murder. The story has been fictionalized from Boal's article.
Jones, most recently seen in "A Prairie Home Companion" and an Oscar winner for "The Fugitive," would play the father.
Theron, last spotted in "Aeon Flux" and an Oscar winner for "Monster," would appear as a police detective.
Haggis won a pair of Oscars from writing and producing "Crash."
