How do I get local listings for my cable or satellite system?
At the top of the grid, next to the house icon, you will see the provider and ZIP code for that grid. If this is not the correct provider, click "Change my area listing." You will be able to enter the correct ZIP code and provider.

How do I save my local provider so I don't have to enter it again?
Your local settings will be saved on your computer as long as "cookies" are enabled on your browser. Cookies are small text files saved on your hard drive that allow a web site to "recognize" your computer when you return to the site. We use cookies for this purpose only. We do not use them to track you as an individual or your activities on our site.

Can I use the same settings on more than one computer?
Yes. When you select your provider you can then register on Zap2it to make your settings portable. We do ask you for a lot of personal information, and what we do ask for is kept private. We never share the information with third parties. Once you're registered, you can log in to retrieve your settings on any computer.

How do I register?
Click the "Register" link at the top of the grid and complete the brief form. After you submit your registration, you will receive an email asking you to confirm your registration. You must reply to the email so that we can verify it was indeed you who registered with us. This is for your protection, so you must provide a valid email address where you can retrieve the email we sent and reply to it.

Do I have to register to use Zap2it listings?
No, you do not need to register if you always use the same computer and you do not want to take advantage of features on the site that require registration.

What features can I use without registering?
You can select your provider, view complete listings, customize your grid with your favorite channels and rate TV shows WITHOUT registering on Zap2it. You must have cookies enabled if you don't want to enter this information each time you visit.

Then why should I register?
Registering makes these additional features available to you.
  • You can log in and retrieve you personal settings on any computer.
  • You can identify your favorite shows and view them on a daily viewing calendar or highlight them in the grid.
  • You can choose to view six hours of listings on the grid instead of three hours.
More features will be added in the future.

I registered on the old TV listings. Can I just login?
No, you must register again on the new listings. Your registration on the previous TV listings is no longer valid. Your registration on our partner sites -- primarily newspaper and TV web sites for which we provide listings -- also is separate from our Zap2it registration.

If you are not sure whether you've already registered on the new listings site, try registering again. If we already have your email address in our system, we will tell you and you can have a new password sent to you.

Why don't I see any channel numbers in my grid?
If you do not see channel numbers it means you're looking at one of our default grids. To view a grid with the channel numbers for your cable or satellite system, click "Change my area listing" at the top of the grid, enter your zip code and choose your provider.

The channel numbers in my grid are not the same as the channels on my TV. What's up?
You're probably looking at a grid for the wrong provider. Click "Change my area listing" at the top of the grid and verify that you zip code and provider are correct. Note that cable and satellite systems may have more than one offering for your ZIP code. Be sure to choose the correct one. If you don't know which to choose, the "Digital" offering is usually the most complete.

There are channels missing from my grid. How can I add them?
Again, you're probably looking at a grid for the wrong provider. You may have selected a basic cable listing instead of a digital service listing. Click "Change my area listing" at the top of the grid and verify that your zip code and provider are correct. Note that cable and satellite systems may have more than one offering for your ZIP code. Be sure to choose the correct one. If you don't know which to choose, the "Digital" offering is usually the most complete.

There are too many channels in my lineup. How can I display just the ones I'm interested in?
You can customize your grid to include only the channels you want, in the order you want Them. Click "Set My Preferences," then follow the instructions at the top of the page. Your favorite channels will be moved to the top of the grid. If you want to see ONLY your favorite channels, check the box at the bottom of that page before you save.

How do I find listings for different days and times?
The grids contain listings for the upcoming two weeks. To quickly see a day other than today, click the arrow next to the date at the top of the grid and choose the day you want from the calendar. Click the the arrow next to the time to choose a different time.

How do I find different channels?
Scroll down to view all channels. You can also jump to a channel by typing the call letters or cable network name into the "Jump to Channel" box at the top of the grid. Example: Type "hbo" or "food" to go to those networks. For local channels, you must type the call letters, not the network name. Example: KTLA or WGN.

How do I view only one station/channel's schedule for the day?
Click on the channel name/number on the left side of the grid and you will get all of that channel's programs for that day.

How can I tell when a show is a rerun?
New episodes are identified by a New icon. If there is no New icon, the episode is likely to be a repeat.

How can I tell which shows are available in HD?
Shows available in HD are designated by an HD icon. You must tune to a digital channel and have an HD-enabled TV to see HD programming.

How do I get a description of a show?
Click on the show title in the grid to go to a program details page with show description and other information.

Can I show descriptions in the grid?
Yes, you can opt to show description in the grid by clicking the "Display Descriptions" link at the top of the grid. To remove the descriptions, click "Hide Descriptions."

How can I watch a video clip of a show?
Shows that have video available are designated with a camera icon in the grid. Click the icon in the grid, or "Watch a preview" on the program details page.

How do I search for a particular program?
Type all or part of the name of the show into the search box above the grid and click the magnifying glass icon. Find the show you're looking for and click the show title for more information.

To narrow your search, click "Advanced Search" and choose the type of info you're looking for, the genre of the show or the date range.

We are eager to get your opinion of our TV listings grid. We continually add new features to the grid, and we will incorporate your input as we continue developing these features. Thank you for taking the time to complete this feedback form and for being a loyal user of Zap2it.com.
