Coast Guard Cape Disappointment: Pacific Northwest Add to Favorites

Cape Disappointment, located at the mouth of the Columbia River in southwestern Washington, is the largest Coast Guard search-and-rescue station on the Northwest coast of the United States. And it's a busy station, with a number of shipwrecks each year near the river's entrance, which is known as ``The Graveyard of the Pacific.'' The series -- part of the Weather Channel's ``Coast Guard'' franchise that also includes series about operations in Alaska and Florida -- follows the men and women stationed at Cape Disappointment who respond to as many as 400 rescue calls annually, many of which are caused by strong, wind-driven ocean swells during winter storms.
