The Underrated of 2007

The Underrated of 2007: Maggie Siff, Elisabeth Moss, Christina Hendricks and January Jones (not pictured)
Mad Men, AMC

You know them as: The Women of Mad Men, specifically department store heir Rachel (Siff), aspiring copywriter Peggy (Moss), vivacious secretary Joan (Hendricks) and stifled housewife Betty (Jones)

Why we like them: If you trust the title of the show, AMCs sterling original drama is about a group of Madison Avenue ad men, but as good as Jon Hamm, Vincent Kartheiser, John Slattery and the rest of the guys may be, we think the women deserve more credit. From Moss painful awkwardness, to Jones coiled repression to Siffs conflicted caution to Hendricks put-on swagger, the shows leading ladies all started as archetypes of 50s femininity. By the end of the season, though, viewers saw all four women on the precipice and we suspect that when the show returns Don, Pete, Roger and the rest of the Mad Men wont know what hit em.

Where else youve seen them: Moss is familiar as Zoey Bartlet from The West Wing, while Firefly fans still adore Hendricks as Saffron. Jones as done features including American Wedding and The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada and Siff guest starred on Greys Anatomy earlier this season.
