Christina Applegate
Applegate was nominated for outstanding lead actress in a comedy series for her role on "Samantha Who?" The series was cancelled this year. Applegate spoke to The Times before heading to the set of "Going the Distance," a film she is shooting with fellow Emmy nominee Drew Barrymore.
"It’s bittersweet," Applegate said. "God, yeah, it really is. Every time I see the show on, I think, ‘I can’t believe we don’t get to do that anymore.’ It’s a bummer. It was such a fun set. I mean, really, we still hang out with the crew, lighting people, all of us are really close. So yeah, it’s definitely bittersweet. It’s good to go out with something positive, but I wish I was still going to work on it."
After hearing of her nomination, Applegate said she called friend Mary-Louis Parker, who was nominated for her role on "Weeds."
"She’s a friend of mine, and apparently I was the first person who told her about her nomination! No one else had texted her! So that was fun."
