Nick Offerman, 'Parks and Recreation'

You know him as: Pawnee, Ind., parks and rec department head Ron Swanson.

Why we like him: Ron. Freaking. Swanson. As "Parks and Rec" struggled to find its footing in its brief run last spring, Offerman's local-government boss sometimes came off as needlessly churlish and cruel to the show's lead character, Leslie Knope ( Amy Poehler). But as the show has blossomed this year, Offerman has gotten to show off one of the driest wits on television, delivering Ron's lines with a perfect mix of weariness and indifference. It's one of the great underplayed performances in any TV comedy right now.

Where else you've seen him: "The Men Who Stare at Goats," "Sin City," " George Lopez"
