Drama may be reworked for a six-episode order

CBS is reportedly close to picking up the LL Cool J drama "The Man" as a midseason offering.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, CBS would likely give the series a six-episode order, adding it to a potential midseason slate that already includes freshman drama "Swingtown" and the resurrected fan favorite "Jericho."

"The Man" featured LL Cool J (we still call him "James Todd Smith") as an undercover cop who finds himself taking care of an orphaned boy.

The original pilot, written and produced by "CSI" mastermind Anthony Zuiker, also featured Melinda Clarke, Jessica Collins and Mia Maestro.

The trade paper says that the pilot is likely to be reworked and reshot before being ready to go to air.
