'Sopranos' Makes Directors Guild Cut
'Lost,' '30 Rock' also up for multiple awards
Put the Directors Guild of America in the "liked the 'Sopranos' finale" camp.The series finale of HBO's signature show, directed by creator David Chase, is among the television nominees for the 60th annual DGA Awards. Another episode from the show's final season, the Tim Van Patten-directed "Sopranos Home Movies," is also among the nominees for drama series direction.
ABC's "Lost" also collected two nominations in the drama category, for the season finale and "The Brig," directed by Jack Bender and Eric Laneuville, respectively. Alan Taylor's direction of the "Mad Men" pilot rounds out the category.
On the comedy side, NBC's "30 Rock" is the only show with multiple nominations, for the episodes "Rosemary's Baby" (directed by Michael Engler) and "Somebody to Love" (Beth McCarthy-Miller). "Entourage," "Pushing Daisies" and "Desperate Housewives" also got nods in the category.
The Directors Guild will hand out its awards for both movies and television on Jan. 26. Below is a partial list of the TV nominees; the full list is at DGA.org.
