'Aliens in America' Star Does 'Nip/Tuck' Work
Adhir Kalyan joins FX show; Nia Vardalos meets 'My Boys'
FX's "Nip/Tuck" will welcome a new doctor into the operating room -- at least temporarily -- when it returns.Adhir Kalyan, one of the stars of The CW's "Aliens in America," has joined the show in a recurring part. He's one of several actors who have signed on to guest arcs in veterans cable series: Nia Vardalos will appear on TBS' "My Boys" this summer, and Gabriel Mann ("The Bourne Supremacy") will guest on AMC's "Mad Men," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
0n "Nip/Tuck," Kalyan will play a young doctor on "Nip/Tuck" who joins McNamara/Troy to help out Christian (Julian McMahon) in the wake of Sean's (Dylan Walsh) stabbing in the season finale. Emphasis on "young" -- his character, Raj, is a Doogie Howser-esque 16 years old.
Kalyan plays exchange student Raja on "Aliens in America," which has won critical praise but few viewers this season. "Nip/Tuck" has begun production on its sixth season, but a return date hasn't been determined.
On "My Boys," Vardalos ("My Big Fat Greek Wedding") will appear in three episodes as the "work wife" of Jim Gaffigan's character. Vardalos has two film projects in the works: the Tom Hanks-directed "A Wilderness of Monkeys" and "My Life in Ruins."
Finally, Mann will appear on "Mad Men" as Arthur, a wealthy man who takes an interest in Betty (January Jones). Mann's credits also include "The Life of David Gale" and "Buffalo Soldiers."
