Silverstone Invited to NBC's 'Table'
'Clueless' star joins midseason comedy
LOS ANGELES -- Three years after her turn on the sweet but short-lived "Miss Match," Alicia Silverstone is returning to NBC.The "Clueless" star has joined the cast of the network's midseason comedy "The Singles Table," where she'll play a doctor with a great career but no life outside of work. She will replace Pascale Hutton, who played the role in the show's pilot, the showbiz trade papers report.
Hutton, whose credits include guest spots on "Smallville" and "Psych," has since moved on to ABC's midseason drama "Traveler."
"The Singles Table," which begins shooting next month, revolves around five people who meet at a wedding reception by virtue of their not having dates and being assigned to the out-of-the-way table the title refers to. The cast also includes John Cho ("Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle") and Rhea Seehorn ("I'm with Her").
Silverstone has starred in pilots each of the past two development seasons, but neither project -- ABC's "Pink Collar" earlier this year and FOX's "Queen B" in 2005 -- has made it all the way through the process and onto the air. Her recent movie credits include "Beauty Shop" and "Scooby Doo: Monsters Unleashed."
She'll next be seen in the movie "Stormbreaker," based on the Alex Rider teen-spy novel. It's scheduled for release Oct. 6.
