Arrest Warrant out for 'Heroes' Star
Hayden Panettiere demonstrated against dolphin hunting
Hayden Panettiere is a wanted woman, and it's not because she has crazy healing/regenerative powers. The "Heroes" star has a warrant out her her arrest in Japan, where she had participated in a protest against dolphin hunting, reports E! News.
"I learned today that I have an arrest warrant out for me in Japan because of what I did for Save the Whales," says the actress, adding that the repercussions could be, "Potentially jail, but I doubt it. ... I guess they could come here and get us, but probably not."
On Oct. 30, Panettiere and other activists in wetsuits paddled their surfboards out to a cove in southwestern Japan in order to peacefully interfere with the dolphin hunting there. The water was already red with the blood of some of the injured mammals caught in the nets. When fishermen came at the protesters with fishing rods and propellers, the activists were forced to flee back to shore, where Panettiere fell to her knees weeping.
"I'd do it again. Very possibly, might do it again," said the actress. "I was very excited that people were interested in what we did. In [Hollywood], you tend to only get publicity for not wearing underwear or going to rehab."
Panettiere, 18, plays the indestructible cheerleader Claire on NBC's drama "Heroes."
