'Average Joe' Ties the Knot
Adam Mesh gets married the conventional way
The original "Average Joe" has found someone who thinks he's not so average.Adam Mesh, the New Yorker who starred in the first edition of NBC's "Average Joe" and a sequel subtitled "Adam Returns," is now a newlywed. The 30-year-old Mesh married Jessica Malca, 25, on May 28 in Miami, People reports.
If you don't remember Malca from the TV series, it's because she had nothing to do with it. She and Mesh met in a much more everyday way -- they lived in the same building in New York.
They started dating in 2004 after the relationship between Mesh and "Average Joe: Adam Returns" winner Samantha Trenk went the way of most other TV-made couples, which is to say, south. He proposed last summer.
"It's nice to be with a real girl who likes me for who I am," Mesh tells the magazine. "I'm really happy."
Before meeting Malca, Mesh was the last Joe standing in the inaugural edition of "Average Joe." He didn't get the girl, however, as Melana Scantlin chose pretty boy Jason Peoples over him in the December 2003 finale, which more than 17 million people watched.
He met Trenk on "Average Joe: Adam Returns," which debuted later in the 2003-04 season after the show's producers were flooded with requests to meet Mesh. He's kept his life mostly off-camera since then, though he did appear on Bravo's "All-Star Reality Reunion" and "Battle of the Network Reality Stars" last year.
