We can only assume Julie Chen will also be back

The most recent installment of "Big Brother" only just completed, but CBS is already planning for the next group of shut-ins.

The network announced Monday (Sept. 22) that an 11th installment of "Big Brother" will return in the summer of 2009.

We're not sure that there was ever any doubt, but it's always nice to have confirmation.

"Big Brother 10" averaged nearly 7 million viewers per episode, filling three primetime hours a week for CBS. The long-running reality stalwart averaged a 2.4 rating among adults 18-49 and a 3.0 rating in CBS' target demo of adults 25-54, holding fairly steady against even the Olympics.

In addition to buoying CBS' summer schedule, an "After Dark" feed of "Big Brother" has also filled three evening hours on a Showtime platform and provided the network with a variety of web-based options.

The 10th season's finale saw the big prize go to 25-year-old Catholic school teacher Dan Gheesling.

Ratings for the 10th season were down from the seventh and eighth installments, which aired in the summers of 2006 and 2007, but up from CBS' rushed "Big Brother: Til Death Do Us Part" season, a spring 2008 gambit rushed into production by the writers strike.
