Brian Cox joins Ian McShane on NBC show, also takes pilot role

Brian Cox will reunite with his former "Deadwood" co-star Ian McShane on NBC's midseason series "Kings."

Cox will have a recurring part on the drama, which recasts the biblical story of David in a contemporary setting. He's set to appear in four episodes as a former king and rival to McShane's King Silas, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"Kings" is one of two NBC projects Cox has landed this week. He's also signed for Dick Wolf's pilot "Lost and Found," where he'll star opposite "Battlestar Galactica's" Katee Sackhoff.

Cox and McShane shared the screen during the third season of "Deadwood," with Cox playing a traveling theater impresario and old acquaintance of Al Swearengen (McShane) who brought his troupe to town.

"Lost and Found" centers on Sackhoff's character, an LAPD detective who clashes with her bosses and is sent to work cases in which the victims were never identified. Cox will play her partner, an old-school cop who's not a fan of either modern police work or standards of decorum.

Cox won an Emmy in 2001 for his work on the TNT miniseries "Nuremberg." Other recent credits include "Zodiac," "Running with Scissors," "Match Point" and "The Bourne Supremacy."
