Two Hosts Fit Into FOX's 'Hole'

Brooke Burns and Mark Thompson will host 'Hole in the Wall'

FOX has set a pair of hosts for its upcoming competition show "Hole in the Wall."

The network announced that production will begin this week in Los Angeles with actress/host Brooke Burns and TV personality Mark Thompson overseeing the mayhem.

The "Hole in the Wall" format first premiered on Japan's Fuji TV in the summer of 2006. Two years later, it continues to regularly win its timeslot. Fremantle has already successfully transferred the format to Argentina, Australia, Brazil, China, Colombia, Denmark, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Israel, Malaysia, Mexico, Russia, Sweden and the U.K.

In "Hole," Contestants, sometimes solo and sometimes in teams, stand at one end of a platform and barrier walls move toward them. Each barrier wall has a segment cut out, sometimes a shape and sometimes a human form in a weird and wacky position. The contestants simply have to fit their bodies through the cut-outs in the wall. Sounds simple, right? If they succeed, they advance to additional, increasingly complicated, rounds. If they don't succeed? Humiliation! There are plenty of clips online from the Japanese version and we recommend checking them out.

Burns recently booked a lead role in the Lifetime drama pilot "Mistresses," continuing a career progression that has seen her work as host on unscripted shows like "Dog Eat Dog" while also starring on scripted shows like "North Shore" and ABC's recent "Miss Guided."

Thompson is the weather anchor for FOX's Los Angeles affiliate. You may have seen him hosting the network's special "Guinness World Records: Primetime" and you've certainly heard him doing voice-over work for shows including "Don't Forget the Lyrics!" "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader" and "Paradise Hotel."
