ABC show signs Chevy Chase to guest role

The in-demand guest star for this fall is ... Chevy Chase?

So it would appear. Chase, who made the first of what will be several appearances on "Saturday Night Live" last weekend, has also signed on to a recurring part on "Brothers & Sisters."

The "Fletch" and "Caddyshack" star is set to begin work on the ABC drama soon, with his first appearance tentatively set for early 2008. He'll be playing an old boyfriend of Nora's (Sally Field) who returns to her life. Chase is scheduled to appear on multiple episodes.

The "Brothers & Sisters" news follows on the heels of Chase's appearance on "Weekend Update" on last week's "SNL." He offered commentary on the presidential campaign from a replica of the "Update" set from his time as a regular on the show in 1975-76.

He also made a high-profile guest appearance on "Law & Order" last season, playing an actor who launches into a racist tirade after being arrested in an episode loosely based on Mel Gibson's 2006 DUI arrest. Other recent credits include a guest spot on "Family Guy" and the feature films "Zoom" and "Funny Money."
