Stephen Colbert will celebrate Christmas a month early with a Comedy Central holiday special.

Comedy Central announced on Tuesday (Sept. 16) that "A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift of All!" will air on Sunday, Nov. 23 at 10 p.m. ET.

Then, in an impressively swift turnaround, "A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift of All!" will premiere on DVD on Tuesday, Nov. 25. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the DVD will benefit the charity Feeding America.

It's a bit unclear if the special is meant to be viewed as just a general Christmas extravaganza starring Stephen Colbert, or whether it's meant as an extension or special episode of "The Colbert Report."

The special finds Colbert on his way to meet Elvis Costello in New York City only to get snowed in at his cabin in upstate New York. Fortunately, he's able to weather the storm with the help of buddies including Feist, Toby Keith, John Legend, Willie Nelson and Jon Stewart.

Colbert and his friends will sing an assortment of original songs composed by Adam Schlesinger of Fountains of Wayne with lyrics by "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart executive producer David Javerbaum. Song titles include "Little Dealer Boy," "There Are Much Worse Things to Believe In" and "Hannukah." All of the guests will then close the show with a rendition of "(What's So Funny 'bout) Peace, Love And Understanding" which is sure to be, um, special.
