Former State members Black and Showalter set up new show

Comedy Central is giving comedic partners Michael Showalter and Michael Ian Black a place to work through their problems.

The network has picked up a sketch-comedy show pilot from the duo called "Michael and Michael Have Issues," in which the two former members of The State address the beefs they have with each other and themselves.

The cast also includes Josh Pais ("Law & Order," "The Station Agent"). According to The Hollywood Reporter, Pais will play the producer of a show-within-the-show, and his character will share a name -- Jim Biederman -- with one of "Michael and Michael's" real executive producers.

Black and Showalter have worked together for years, dating back to the days of "The State" on MTV in the early 1990s. They also starred in Comedy Central's oddball series "Stella" a couple years ago and co-starred in the movies "Wet Hot American Summer" and "The Baxter."

Black is currently hosting Comedy Central's "Reality Bites Back," in which a group of comedians take part in a series of parodies of reality-competition shows.
