Having only picked up a lone comedy for the fall, The CW has snagged the sitcom pilot "Eight Days a Week" for midseason.

Created by network newbies Marcie Ulin and Meredith Lavender, "Eight Days a Week" is an ensemble about a group of twentysomething assistants working for New York's most powerful movers and shakers. The assistants quickly come to realize that no matter how hectic life gets, they can count on each other.

The CW has asked for 12 episodes of "Eight Days."

Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner are executive producing the comedy, which comes from CBS Paramount Network TV and Hazy Mills. Lavender and Ulin will stick around as producers.

The cast of the single-camera includes Christina Milian ("Pulse"), Mario Lopez ("Saved by the Bell"), Anna Chlumsky ("My Girl"), Robert Ri'chard ("Veronica Mars"), Johnny Lewis ("Quintuplets"), Rosa Blasi and Jerrika Hinton.

"Aliens in America," set to air in the network's Monday night 8:30 p.m. slot, was the only comedy picked up by The CW at upfronts earlier this month.
