'Housewives' Get Some New Neighbors
Kathleen York, Matt Roth will have recurring roles
LOS ANGELES -- Wisteria Lane will welcome a couple of new faces later this fall."Desperate Housewives," which begins its third season on ABC Sunday, has added Kathleen York ("The West Wing") and Matt Roth ("Roseanne") to its already-large cast. Both will have recurring roles in the coming season, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Roth, whose credits also include the feature "Blink" and guest spots on "Grey's Anatomy" and "Crossing Jordan," will play the new owner of Paul Young's (Mark Moses) house on Wisteria Lane. He and Lynette (Felicity Huffman) will become friends after his character, Art, helps calm what's described as a "tense situation."
Roth's wife, former "Roseanne" star Laurie Metcalf, will also appear on "Desperate Housewives" this season, though the couple most likely won't be working together.
York's role on the show is a little less well-defined. The HR describes her character only as "a beautiful redhead mystery woman."
The actress and singer played Toby's (Richard Schiff) ex-wife on "The West Wing" and also had a recurring part on "The O.C." in the 2004-05 season. She was nominated for an Oscar this year for her song "In the Deep," which was on the "Crash" soundtrack (she also had a role in the film).
