Eliza Dushku Stays at FOX
Ne development deal for "Buffy" and "Tru Calling" star
Eliza Dushku has inked a lucrative new development pact with FOX and 20th Century Fox TV.According to the industry trade papers, the deal is in the mid-to-high-six figures and will find the network and studio trying to build new projects around Dushku, plus pitching the actress on existing scripts.
Dushku has a long and relatively successful history with 20th Century Fox going back to her time as rogue slayer Faith on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel." She followed those series with the studio's "Tru Calling," which aired for a season-and-a-smidge on FOX.
This past development season Dushku was a late casting addition on 20th Century Fox TV's heavily reconceived ensemble "Nurses." While that pilot didn't go forward, the network briefly extended the contracts for several of the leads, though "Nurses" appears to finally be on ice.
Dushku, whose film credits include "The New Guy" and "Wrong Turn," has completed a number of film projects including "On Broadway" and "Nobel Son."
Red Sox fans most recently saw Dushku in the NESN announcing booth during a recent double-header coinciding with a Jimmy Fund telethon.
