Actor has been married to Shiva Rose for 12 years

Just like his character on "Big Shots," Dylan McDermott is splitting with his wife of many years.

The 45-year-old actor and his actress wife, Shiva Rose, have separated, reports People.

The couple met in a coffee shop and were wed in November 1995. They have two daughters: Collette, 11, and Charlotte, 2.

McDermott, who played defense attorney Bobby Donnell on "The Practice" for many years, has returned to television with "Big Shots," an ABC show costarring Michael Vartan, Joshua Molina and Christopher Titus that premiered Thursday (Sept. 27).

His film credits also include "Twister," "In the Line of Fire," "Miracle on 34th Street," "Texas Rangers," "Party Monster" and "The Messengers."

Rose, 38, has made guest appearances on "CSI: Miami" and "Las Vegas." On the big screen, she recently starred in the romantic comedy "David & Layla" opposite David Moscow.
