Megalyn Echikunwoke will be a regular on the new season of "CSI: Miami."

CBS' "CSI: Miami" has welcomed Megalyn Echikunwoke to its investigative team as a new cast regular.

Echikunwoke had initially been signed onto the popular Monday night procedural as a recurring character, but started with the season's second episode, her character, Dr. Tara Price, will be on full-time duty.

"Megalyn Echikunwoke is an exciting addition to 'CSI: Miami,'" says series executive producer Ann Donahue in a statement. "She brings savvy and humor to her role of Dr. Tara Price, a young medical examiner whose methods are on the cutting edge of technology."

Echikunwoke joins David Caruso, Emily Procter, Adam Rodriguez, Jonathan Togo, Rex Linn, Eva La Rue and Evan Ellingson in the core "CSI: Miami" cast. The show's seventh season premieres on Monday, Sept. 22.

Most recently seen as Isabelle Tyler on "The 4400," Echikunwoke's credits include "That '70s Show," "24," "Veronica Mars," "Boston Public" and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer."
