DeGeneres Is 'Really Big' at TBS
Comedian to host variety special in November
Ellen DeGeneres has done several HBO specials and hosts a daytime talk show on broadcast TV. In November, she'll take her act to ad-supported cable.DeGeneres will host a two-hour comedy and music special called "Ellen's Really Big Show" on TBS in November. The show will be shot in Las Vegas during The Comedy Festival, which runs from Nov. 14-17, and air on Sunday, Nov. 18.
"I'm very happy to be working with TBS. I usually put two TBS of sugar in my coffee every day, so this is a dream come true for me," DeGeneres says.
The feeling is mutual -- at least about the working together part -- at the cable network.
"We are truly thrilled to be working with the enormously talented Ellen DeGeneres on her first TBS special," TBS programming chief Michael Wright says. "It's especially exciting to see her bring back the variety special format, which for decades provided television with some of its most memorable performances."
"Ellen's Really Big Show" will feature a mix of live music and comedy; the lineup will be announced closer to the airdate.
