'Grey's Anatomy' Star Gets Hitched
Ellen Pompeo had a quiet ceremony at City Hall
The "Grey's Anatomy" star and her fiance, record producer Chris Ivery, quietly tied the knot at City Hall in Manhattan on Friday, Nov. 9, reports People.
The news was broken by Pompeo's dad Joseph: "I'm very happy for her. She just didn't want a big thing."
Pompeo and Ivery, both 38, met in 2003 in Los Angeles when a friend introduced them, but didn't begin dating until six months later. Little did they know that they had actually grown up minutes from each other in Boston. Pompeo actually hails from nearby Everett.
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, a native of Medford, Mass., served as a witness at the brief ceremony.
Ivery proposed to Pompeo a year ago Nov. 10, on her 37th birthday.
Pompeo has appeared in a number of films -- such as "Daredevil" and "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" -- that eventually left most of her scenes on the cutting room floor. She currently plays surgical intern Dr. Meredith Grey, who's drawn to her Dr. Derek "McDreamy" Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey) on ABC's wildly popular "Grey's Anatomy."
