'Pineapple Express' Director Brings 'Good Vibes' to FOX
David Gordon Green is writing an animated pilot for the network
Writer-director David Gordon Green is making his first foray into television, setting up an animated pilot at FOX.The "Pineapple Express" helmer has sold a pilot presentation for a show called "Good Vibes" to the network. It centers on high-school students and surfing aficionados in a California beachside community, the showbiz trade papers report.
Green is writing the pilot, and "Simpsons" animator Brad Ableson will provide the artwork. The two will also executive produce along with veteran producer Tom Werner ("The Cosby Show," "That '70s Show") and Mike Clements.
FOX is looking for new shows to freshen up its animated slate, which currently includes two shows -- "The Simpsons" and "King of the Hill" -- that are more than 10 years old, as well as "Family Guy," which has more than 120 episodes under its belt. The network is introducing two new shows, "Family Guy" spinoff "The Cleveland Show" and "Sit Down, Shut Up," later this season.
"Good Vibes" will be Green's first stab at writing for TV. In addition to "Pineapple Express," he's also written and directed "George Washington," "Undertow" and "All the Real Girls."
