FOX has given a put pilot commitment to "Church of Steve," a half-hour comedy from Will Ferrell and Adam McKay's Gary Sanchez TV.

"Church" was developed by Sony Pictures TV and the pilot comes from writer/producer Chris Henchy, whose credits include ABC's "I'm With Her."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Church of Steve" tells the heart-warming story of a blue-collar New Jersey man who discovers he's a descendant of Jesus. It's like FOX is begging for the conservative protests.

The trade paper claims that the single-camera project comes with a million dollar penalty.

"Steve" is the second pilot sold by Gary Sanchez TV in recent weeks. "P.E.," another single-camera comedy, is being shot for HBO.

Henchy is also currently co-writing a big screen version of "Land of the Lost" with Ferrell attached to star.
