FOX Locks Up Another 'Prison Break' Season
Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell will return for all of the prison breaking fans have come to expect
After shooting in Chicago for its first season and moving the Dallas area for the past two, "Prison Break" will shift its production to Los Angeles for season four.
It's a good thing "Prison Break" is coming back, because the show's fans -- just under 8.2 million viewers on average, down from 9.4 million last season -- were left with a number of cliffhangers after the show's premature strike-forced finale this year. Will Michael (Wentworth Miller) get revenge on Gretchen (Jodi Lynn O'Keefe) for chopping his girlfriend's head off? How will Sucre (Amaury Nolasco) do in Sona? And how long will T-Bag (Robert Knepper) be able to stay in power? And what's up with Mahone's (William Fichtner) new friendship with Whistler?
While the show's overall audience has slipped slowly-but-steadily in recent seasons, "Prison Break" still reliably wins its Monday time period among adults 18-34 and finishes second in most other demos.
Before the strike, the show's producers were contemplating a spin-off set in a women's prison. The character intended to be the centerpiece of that new series never had the chance to debut and it's unclear if producers still intend to introduce her.
