Original episode dealt with the death of a college basketball player

In wake of Monday's (April 17) tragic shootings at Virginia Tech, FOX has replaced this week's scheduled episode of "Bones."

Wednesday's originally episode, titled "Player Under Pressure," found the drama's main characters investigating human remains -- identified as a star student-athlete -- found under the bleachers at a college gym.

After 33 people were killed on Virginia Tech's campus in the deadliest mass shootings in U.S. history, FOX moved quickly to pull the "Bones" episode.

"Out of sensitivity to the victims and families touched by this senseless tragedy, we felt the change was appropriate," a FOX spokesperson says.

It has yet to be determined when or if the "Player Under Pressure" episode will air. The "Aliens in a Spaceship" episode, which first aired in November, will show this Wednesday in its place.
