Unscripted soap lasted two episodes, one more than 'Anchorwoman'

This may go down as the day the music died for FOX's "Nashville."

Two disappointing weeks into its fall run, "Nashville" has been pulled from FOX's Friday schedule effective immediately.

For at least the next two weeks, FOX will air a more scripted saga of a different Southern town, scheduling repeats of "K-Ville" for the Friday 9 p.m. time slot. FOX will then dedicate several weeks to the baseball postseason before regrouping.

Officially FOX's scheduling announcement says that upcoming episodes of "Nashville" will be rescheduled, but it's hard to know where else the network could hide a show that averaged an embarrassing 0.9 rating in the key 18-49 demo and 2.4 million total viewers.

Produced by the good folks who brought you "Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County," "Nashville" followed the somewhat unscripted, soapy adventures of a group of pretty folks trying to make it in the Country Music Capital.

It may not salve the sting, but "Nashville" can take some solace in lasting longing than the late-summer dud "Anchorwoman," cancelled after only one August airing.
