'Everwood' Creator Sets Up Shop at ABC
Berlanti has two drama projects in the works
LOS ANGELES -- Greg Berlanti has moved out of "Everwood" and into a new home at ABC and Touchstone TV.Berlanti, who created the late, lamented WB family drama, as well as "Jack & Bobby," has two drama pilots in development at his new home (he formerly had a deal at Warner Bros. TV). One, a drama called "Eli Stone," has already earned a pilot order from the network, while the other, an untitled saga about a wealthy family, has a script order.
"Eli Stone" centers on a lawyer who starts having visions, leading him to think he might be a prophet, according to the showbiz trade papers. Berlanti says he hopes the show will discuss spirituality in a "heartfelt" way, but also with a sense of humor.
He co-wrote the script with Marc Guggenheim, who worked on "Jack & Bobby" and has also written for "Law & Order" and "CSI: Miami."
Berlanti will serve as an executive producer on the other project, which is being written by Craig Wright ("Six Feet Under," "Lost"). It's about an affluent New York family as seen through the eyes of their harried lawyer.
