Pilots: Jada Pinkett Smith Makes 'Time'
The actress will play a nurse for TNT
Pinkett Smith has signed on to star in a pilot for TNT called "Time Heals." She'll also be an executive producer of the project from veteran writer John Masius.
The drama centers on Nancy Hawthorne (Pinkett Smith), the director of nursing at a hospital in Charlotte, N.C. She's also a single mother who is constantly putting the needs of others before her own.
If the show goes forward, it would be the first TV role for Pinkett Smith since the HBO movie "If These Walls Could Talk" in 1996. She was also a regular on "A Different World" from 1991-93.
Her recent film credits include "The Women," "Reign Over Me," "Collateral" and the two "Matrix" sequels.
Masius is a two-time Emmy winner for his work on "St. Elsewhere." His resume also includes such varied works as "Touched by an Angel," "Providence" and "Dead Like Me." He and Pinkett Smith will executive produce "Time Heals" with Jamie Tarses.
