'Idol' Vet Sierra Busted
Season Four singer faces battery and drug possession charges
Jessica Sierra, an "American Idol" finalist two seasons ago, was arrested over the weekend on felony battery charges.Sierra was busted early Sunday (April 30) morning in Florida. The 21-year-old Tampa resident was booked on a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon after allegedly throwing a cocktail glass at a male cafe customer.
According to a wide variety of media reports, Sierra and the male engaged in a heated exchange before the glass was thrown. The customer suffered a laceration over one eye.
At the scene, Sierra was described as "belligerent" with the arresting officer.
In addition to the battery charge, Sierra picked up a drug possession charge after officers allegedly found a small amount of cocaine on Sierra's person.
Sierra was released on $11,500 bond on Sunday afternoon.
In 2005's installment of FOX's wildly popular singing talent show, Sierra advanced through the semi-finals and made it into the Top 12. After surviving two weeks of popular voting, Sierra was eliminated after singing LeAnn Rimes' "On the Side of Angels" for a Music of the 1990s theme week.
Sierra had a less-than-welcome return to the spotlight in 2006 when a man was arrested and accused of stalking the singer and leaving more than 40 adoring voicemails for her.
