Simpson Stays Dumb to Save Voice
Laryngitis is keeping the singer temporarily silent
Jessica Simpson, known for her naive comments and vocal acrobatics, is giving it a rest.Due to laryngitis, the singer-actress has had to postpone embarking on a publicity tour to promote her new album, "A Public Affair," report news sources.
"Jessica has lost her voice on the eve of her album release," confirms Simpson's rep, Rob Shuter. "We hope she can recover. The timing could not have been worse. She's on total vocal rest and some of her appearances have been delayed."
Under doctor's orders, she will have to refrain from talking or risk losing her voice completely. This means that she's canceled her appearances on "Total Request Live" and "The Late Show with David Letterman."
Although she was set to perform a live concert New York City's Rockefeller Plaza for the "Today" show on Tuesday (Aug. 29), that has now been rescheduled for Friday, and she hopes to make a brief appearance on the show Wednesday.
Simpson has had to resort to pen and paper to communicate her Simpson-isms.
"A Public Affair" is her fifth album, but the first since divorcing Nick Lachey, with whom she starred on MTV's "Newlyweds." She was last seen co-hosting the Teen Choice Awards and next appears on the big screen opposite Dane Cook and Dax Shepard in "Employee of the Month," to be released in October.
