The wedding was a small, private affair at home

John C. McGinley, whose character on "Scrubs" just became a father again, has something to celebrate in real life as well.

The 47-year-old actor married his fiancee, yoga instructor Nichole Kessler, at their Malibu home on Saturday, April 7, reports People.

The night before, McGinley had hosted a welcome dinner with his actor pal John Cusack.

At the wedding, Kessler, 34, walked down the aisle, wearing a bluch Le Sposa Di Gio gown, with McGinley's 9-year-old son, Max. About 30 friends and family members were on hand for the evening ceremony and enjoyed sushi and cake afterwards.

The couple began dating more than three years ago. McGinley has his son to thank for meeting Kessler in the first place.

"My son walked up to Nicole on the beach and I was throwing the ball for the dogs in the ocean," recalls McGinley. "And Max went over to this hot blonde behind me and I was just aghast. I was like, 'Max you get the dogs. I'll talk to the hot blondes.' And, so we switched."

Kessler, who is also a birthing doula, says that her fiancee makes her laugh. "He brings strength into my life and he challenges me to be more of a person than I ever thought I could be" to which McGinley adds, "Nicole is a better athlete than me. She's just flat out better."
