"Deadwood" co-star John Hawkes is hanging his hat at HBO again, signing on to a comedy pilot produced by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay.
Katy Mixon ("The Quiet") and Andrew Daly ("School for Scoundrels," "Reno 911!") have also joined the show, called "East Bound and Down," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The show centers on a former pro baseball pitcher (Danny McBride, "Hot Rod") who returns to his hometown after his career ends. The only job available to him is as a substitute gym teacher at his old high school.
McBride also co-created the show with Ben Best and Jody Hill. The trio will serve as executive producers with Ferrell and McKay -- whose Gary Sanchez Productions is producing the show -- and Chris Henchy ("Entourage," "Spin City").
Hawkes, who played Sol Star on "Deadwood" and co-stars in the upcoming "American Gangster," will play McBride's brother. Mixon will play McBride's one-time girlfriend, a teacher at the high school who's dating the principal (Daly).
