Jon Seda heads latest round of casting

Three more actors have signed up for duty in "The Pacific," HBO's World War II companion piece to "Band of Brothers."

Jon Seda ("Close to Home"), Rami Malek ("The War at Home") and Ashton Holmes ("A History of Violence") will all play U.S. Marines in the 10-hour miniseries, according to The Hollywood Reporter. They join the previously cast James Badge Dale, Joe Mazzello and Val Lauren.

"The Pacific" is scheduled to begin production in Australia next month under the auspices of executive producers Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg, who also exec produced "Band of Brothers." It tells the story of WWII's Pacific theater through the eyes of three Marines: John Basilone (Lauren), Robert Leckie (Dale) and Eugene Sledge (Mazzello).

The miniseries is based on two books, Sledge's "With the Old Breed" and Leckie's "Helmet for My Pillow," and interviews with Pacific veterans.

Seda was a regular on NBC's "Homicide" from 1997-99. He appeared on CBS' "Close to Home" last season; his credits also include "Kevin Hill" and "Bad Boys II."

Malek had a recurring role on FOX's "The War at Home" and has also guested on FX's "Over There" and NBC's "Medium." In addition to "A History of Violence," Holmes' credits include an arc on "Boston Legal" last season and the movies "Peaceful Warrior" and "Wind Chill."
