'Supernatural' Actress Cited for Underage Drinking, Lying to Cops
Katie Cassidy initially gave a false identity to officers
The 20-year-old actress, who happens to be the daughter of singer-actor David Cassidy, was cited on underage drinking and lying to a peace officer, reports the Tucson Citizen.
Although the incident occurred on Tuesday, Oct.30, it has come to light after a state public records request was submitted. According to the report, Cassidy was in a pickup driven by Caleb Wilson, 19, who was not intoxicated.
Around 2:15 a.m., officers noted that the the license plate on a pickup truck was unreadable and signalled it to pull over. Wilson pulled into a nearby parking lot, striking a parked car in the process. While dealing with Wilson's traffic violations, they talked with Cassidy, who was "showing signs and symptoms" of intoxication, including alcohol on her breath and slurred speech.
Cassidy admitted to drinking wine and cranberry juice/vodka cocktails and then gave officers her friend's name and age, which was 23, as her own. Eventually, her conscience got the better of her, and she admitted, "OK, OK, I lied to you, that wasn't my real name, but I'll give it to you now." A breath test showed positive results for alcohol consumption.
"She said that she was scared and that was why she lied," reads the report. "She said that she is a Hollywood actress and that this would not look good for her."
Wilson was cited on suspicion of making an improper right turn, failing to obtain an Arizona driver's license and lacking proof of insurance.
Cassidy, who turns 21 on Nov. 25, currently stars as Ruby, a demon who is helping the Winchester boys on "Supernatural." Her other credits include "7th Heaven" and on the big screen, "When a Stranger Calls," "Click," "Black Christmas" and the upcoming "Taken."
