Report: Lance Bass and Boyfriend Break Up
Singer and reality star bid each other 'Bye, bye, bye'
Lance Bass' first public gay romance has ended. The former 'N Sync star and his boyfriend, "Amazing Race" winner Reichen Lehmkuhl, have reportedly split up over the weekend, reports "Extra."
A source told the entertainment newsmagazine that the celebrity couple mutually agreed to the breakup, which occurred on Sunday, Dec. 3. No reason for the split was reported.
In an earlier interview on Friday (Dec. 1), Bass was at Pure Nightclub in Vegas without Lekmuhl. When questioned if he was planning on spending the holidays with his boyfriend, Bass evasively replied, "I don't know. A lot can happen in three weeks." Bass was similarly alone over the weekend at VH1's Big in '06 Awards.
Bass, 27, was one-fifth of the wildly popular boy band 'N Sync with Justin Timberlake, Joey Fatone, J.C Chasez and Chris Kirkpatrick. Bass kept mum about his sexuality at the time because he feared the news would take the focus away from the band. He finally came out in July this year, four years after the band broke up, because he wanted to quiet the speculation.
"The thing is, I'm not ashamed -- that's the one thing I want to say. I don't think it's wrong, I'm not devastated going through this," he told People at the time. "I'm more liberated and happy than I've been my whole life. I'm just happy."
In recent months, "How I Met Your Mother" actor Neil Patrick Harris and "Grey's Anatomy" co-star T.R. Knight also willingly came out to dispel rumors. Lehmkuhl called this phenomenon getting "lanced."
