Lauren Ambrose is six months along

Lauren Ambrose, who starred in HBO's mortuary drama "Six Feet Under," will soon celebrate a new life.

The redheaded actress and her husband are expecting their first child before the end of the year, reports Us Weekly.

Ambrose, 28, is six months pregnant. She married photographer and entrepreneur Sam Handel in 2001. They currently live in New York City.

Ambrose is probably best known as the overlooked sister on HBO's now defunct "Six Feet Under." Before that, she made a few appearances on "Law & Order" and had a recurring guest role on "Party of Five."

Her film credits include "In & Out," "Psycho Beach Party," "Swimming" and "Can't Hardly Wait," a teen comedy that had her locked in a bathroom with Seth Green for most of the film. Her upcoming projects include "Tonight at Noon" with Ethan Hawke and "A Dog Year" opposite Jeff Bridges.
