Unscripted series will follow three Washington 'alpha girls'

Lifetime has greenlit an unscripted series that's been described as its own version of "The Hills" -- except it will take place in the shadow of Capitol Hill.

The cable channel has ordered six episodes of a show about three "gorgeous, twenty-something alpha girls" living in Washington, D.C., and trying to put their professional and social imprint on the city, "no matter what obstacles they face." They're described as young women who "dominate the social scene" and host numerous philanthropic functions in the district.

They are, both the click and the show, the "Blonde Charity Mafia."

The show begins production in September. It will follow the lives of hostesses Katherine Kennedy and Krista Johnson, along with their friend Sophie Pyle, "who's always in attendance at the charity functions thrown by Katherine and Krista."

"Katherine, Krista and Sophie are at the epicenter of Georgetown's young cultural scene," says Jessica Samet, Lifetime's head of reality programming. "This absorbing series will pull the curtain back on the fragility of friendship among the beautiful, wealthy and powerful."

Patti Ivins Specht ("The Simple Life") and Julie Pizzi ("America's Prom Queen") are executive producing "Blonde Charity Mafia."
